Eastern Newfoundland bracing for blizzard

A low pressure system is expected to impact Newfoundland overnight and Monday. The heaviest snow will fall across the Avalon Peninsula where 25-35 cm of snow is anticipated.

From the Burin to Bonavista Peninsula, we expect 10 to 15 cm of snow and lesser amounts farther west.

Winds on the Avalon Peninsula will gust to 110 km/h and gusts between 80 and 100 km/h are expected on the Burin and Bonavista Peninsulas.

There is a high likelihood of school closures, impacts on public services, power outages, and travel disruptions.
