Emergency Preparedness Week Launches Today
Emergency Preparedness Week begins today and runs until May 9th.
Emergency Preparedness Week is an opportunity to encourage Canadians to take actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies.
This year marks the 25th annual Emergency Preparedness Week.
Canada has experienced several disasters over the years. We are currently facing COVID-19, where planning is more important then ever.
We will highlight different possible events this week.
We will start with planning for a pandemic. Find reliable and up-to-date information during a pandemic from trusted sources such as radio, news broadcasts, government websites, newspapers, and social media channels belonging to trusted sources.
During a pandemic you may need to give health information to healthcare providers. You may need to give information about yourself and others in your care. Keep a record of your relevant health information handy, such as:
health card number(s)
current medical condition(s)s
current medication and treatments
healthcare providers' contact information
