Dangerously cold conditions are expected across large areas of Ontario Monday morning, with wind chill values dropping as low as –35.

An advisory covered portions of southwestern and central Ontario, including the Greater Golden Horseshoe, as well as parts of central and eastern Ontario.

Wind chill values of –25 to –30 were possible in southwestern and central regions, while central and eastern areas could see wind chills between –30 and –35.

Officials warned the cold could increase the risk of hypothermia and frostbite for anyone outside for extended periods without adequate protection.

Residents were advised to dress in layers, cover exposed skin and limit time outdoors during the coldest part of the morning.
