Extreme Heat Ends But For How Long?

Most areas of Newfoundland were sweltering in hot weather this past week with temperatures hitting thirty degrees in many places and humidex values reaching 38. Needless to say, several temperature records were broken.

By the time we got to Friday, the heat had ended and temperatures struggled to get to 20 degrees on Friday sending a feeling of early Autumn into the air. A shift in the wind direction helped clear out the humidity. As a result, frost advisories were issued for parts of the Island.

A nice weekend is in store with comfortable and seasonal temperatures. As we head into next week, pleasant weather will continue and we will see a gradual rise in temperatures but temperatures will get to about 25 and that's it.

Long-range models indicate that temperatures will run a couple of degrees high over the next ten days at least. At this point, it doesn't look like any major heat is on the horizon.
