Flooding in California Causes Levee Failure

Heavy rain forced a levee to break near Chualar, California on Wednesday.

Chualar is located in the Salinas Valley of Monterey County, California. Chualar is located 10 miles southeast of Salinas.

The levee failure caused the closure of U.S. Highway 101.

As a result, about thirty people had to spend the night in a school gym and a nursing home was evacuated because of flooding.

Several other roads were also closed.
