Forest Fire Risk Increasing Across NL
The forest fire risk across Newfoundland is high to extreme in most areas.
Recently, most of the province has seen very little rain and the temperatures have been 25 to 30 on most days.
In the Gander to Glovertown area, the fire risk is considered extreme. An extreme risk means new fires will start very easily, spread rapidly, and challenge fire suppression efforts.
There are currently four fires burning across the province. Sandy Island Lake Labrador, QSNL Railway Labrador, Millertown, and Twillingate.
