Freezing Rain Risk for SE Labrador

Portions of southeastern Labrador will see an extended period of Freezing rain beginning on Wednesday afternoon and continuing until Thursday afternoon.


Some areas along the Labrador/Quebec border could see about 10 mm of freezing rain. Power outages are possible. Travel will be dangerous.


There are freezing rain warnings in effect for Cartwright to Black Tickle, Eagle River, Norman Bay to Lodge Bay, and Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair. Also for Chevery in Quebec.


Winter storm warnings have been issued for Postville - Makkovik and Rigolet and vicinity. In these areas, Total snowfall between 25 and 45 cm is expected. Wind will gust to 70 km/h this evening until Friday evening.


There are also special weather statements in effect for Cartwright to Black Tickle, Eagle River, Norman Bay to Lodge Bay, and Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair. Total rainfall through Friday night is expected to be between 20 and 40 mm along the coast south of Black Tickle. Snow and ice pellets amounts of 15 to 25 cm today through Thursday in the Cartwright and Eagle River areas, with an additional 10 to 20 cm Thursday night to Friday night.
