The Polar Vortex is moving toward Hudson Bay while cold air in the west funnels down to the Prairies, resulting in very cold weather across the area.
Colder air will continue to be an issue this weekend. The coldest air will be in northern Manitoba, where temperatures will range from minus 20 to minus 30 early next week. Wind chill values could drop to near minus 45.
Temperatures will moderate somewhat in Alberta early next week, but cold air will linger in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
