A low pressure system will bring significant rain and strong winds to portions of Atlantic Canada tonight and Monday.

Across Mainland Nova Scotia, rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm are expected today and overnight. Wind will also gust between 60 and 80 km/h. On Cape Breton Island, winds will gust to 100 km/h over Margaree Harbour to Bay St. Lawrence late this evening.

Over higher elevations, wet snow is possible.

Southern and parts of eastern New Brunswick will receive similar rainfall amounts today and tonight, along with wind gusts to 60 km/h.

Prince Edward Island will see 25 to 40 mm of rain and winds gusting between 70 and 80 km/h now until Monday morning.

Newfoundland will also see rain tonight and into Monday, with most areas seeing 5 to 10 mm, except the south coast, which will see 10 to 20 mm.

Very strong wind gusts are expected overnight in the Wreckhouse area, with gusts to 130 km/h possible.
