Heavy rain expected across parts of Atlantic Canada



An area of low pressure will bring heavy rain to western Newfoundland and the Maritimes today, tonight, and Friday.


Total rainfall amounts across western Newfoundland including the Great Northern Peninsula and Green Bay - White Bay is expected to be between 40 and 70 mm. For the Burin, Connaigre, and the southern Avalon 30 to 50 mm of rain is expected.


Heavy rain is also expected across New Brunswick with between 30 and 50 mm expected. Extreme southern Nova Scotia could see 60 mm.


On Saturday morning the low will bring snow to New Brunswick and PEI, rain to Nova Scotia and showers across Newfoundland.


Labrador on the other hand will see snow, rain, freezing rain, and ice pellets.
