Heavy rain expected for parts of Atlantic Canada


Rain is falling across parts of the Maritimes as tropical moisture moves into the region.


It is important to note, this is not a tropical storm and is not associated with Franklin.


Today and tonight rainfall amounts of 40 to 70 mm are possible for most of mainland Nova Scotia. For eastern and southeastern New Brunswick, 15 to 30 mm of rain is expected.


The ground is already saturated in the area due to recent rainfall events and as a result, flooding may occur.


Tonight through Sunday rain will move across western Newfoundland. In the Port aux Basques area, rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 mm is expected.
