Heavy rain expected in southwestern Alberta

A developing area of low pressure over Montana will move over Alberta over the next few days resulting in significant amounts of rain for some areas.


Rain will move in to the area tonight and continue until Wednesday morning.


The heaviest rain will fall over the eastern Rocky Mountains and the foothills including the city of Calgary.


Rainfall amounts of 50 to 100 mm is possible by the time the rain comes to an end.


There are special weather statements in effect for:

  • Airdrie - Cochrane - Olds - Sundre

  • City of Calgary

  • Crowsnest Pass - Pincher Creek - Waterton Lakes Nat. Park

  • Kananaskis - Canmore

  • Nordegg - Forestry Trunk Road Highway 734

  • Okotoks - High River - Claresholm
