Heavy rain to continue across eastern Newfoundland

Heavy rain will continue today and tonight across the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas of Newfoundland. Some areas could see up to 75 mm of rain.

The Burin Peninsula and southern Avalon is most likely to see the heaviest rain.

Across central Newfoundland, most of the Nova Scotia 5 to 10 mm is expected.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
