An area of rain will become better organized this evening and overnight and will bring heavy rain to southern sections of Alberta through the day on Saturday before tapering off in the evening.
Rainfall amounts will range between 50 and 100 mm, however, some areas could see upwards of 150 mm in the Foothills area. Areas to the east including Calgary will see 40 to 80 mm of rain.
Over the more mountainous terrain of the Rockies, rain is expected to transition to snow. On Saturday, 10 to 20 cm of snow is possible over the highest elevations, such as Highwood Pass.
On Saturday the heavy rain will move into southern Saskatchewan. Southwestern sections will likely see 25 to 50 mm of rain over the course of the weekend. On Saturday areas such as Kindersley and Leader could see 50 to 70 mm of rain.
