Heavy snow for parts of Newfoundland Friday night and Saturday


A low over the northern Atlantic Ocean will bring significant snowfall to parts of Newfoundland on Friday night and Saturday.


The heaviest snow will fall across northern facing shores of Newfoundland through central and the Avalon Peninsula.


Snowfall amounts of about 15 to 20 is expected for St. John's. Gander could receive 25 to 35 cm of snow and Springdale will see snowfall amounts of about 10 to 15 cm.


Strong winds are also expected with gusts between 60 to 80 km/h resulting in blowing snow.
