Heavy snow to impact Southern Ontario

A large area of low pressure currently centred over Virginia will bring significant snow to portions of southern and central Ontario tonight and will continue until Monday night.

Snowfall amounts remain similar to our last update.

The heaviest snow will fall across the Niagara Peninsula and through eastern Ontario. In these areas snowfall amounts of 30 to 40 cm is possible.

For the Golden Horseshoe and north to the Peterborough area amounts of 15 to 20 cm is possible.

At the same time, there is the potential for snow squalls to develop southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay on Monday afternoon. From the snow squalls, 10 to 15 cm is possible by Tuesday morning.

The snow will impact the Monday morning commute. There will be widespread blowing snow and reduced visibility. Road closures are possible.
