Heightened risk of severe storms across Manitoba and Saskatchewan

The greatest risk for severe thunderstorms on Tuesday will be focused on southern Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan, where damaging winds, large hail, torrential rainfall, and a risk of tornadoes are all possible. Storms are expected to develop during the afternoon and continue into the evening before gradually weakening overnight.

The most significant severe weather threat is expected across southern Manitoba, including areas near Brandon and Winnipeg. Thunderstorms that develop may become severe, producing wind gusts of 110 to 130 km/h, large hail between 4 and 6 cm in diameter, heavy rainfall totals of 50 to 75 mm, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Those in this region should closely monitor forecasts and be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.

Thunderstorms are also expected to develop across central Manitoba, with the potential for wind gusts of 90 to 110 km/h, hail up to 2.5 to 4 cm in diameter, and rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 mm. Some storms could become severe during the afternoon and evening hours.
