Himalayan Glacier Collapses, Several Dead
Dozens of people are feared dead after a Himalayan glacier broke apart and crashed into a hydroelectric dam in India. The breach happened in Chamoli, Uttrakhand.
Rescue operations are underway and up to 150 people are feared dead, although no death toll has been released. 2,000 military members were dispatched to assist with rescue efforts.
Two power plants were in the path of the racing water from the glacier. Most of those missing were employees at the plant.
The wall of water washed away parts of the dam and destroyed roads. Nearby villages were evacuated as a precaution but residents have since been allowed to return home.
