Hurricane Fausto could pose a threat to Hawaii

Hurricane Fausto is continuing its march westward over the open Pacific Ocean.

The storm is located about 2135 kilometres west of the southern tip of Baja California with maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h.

The storm is expected to pose a threat to Hawaii on Monday or Tuesday.

Swells generated by Fausto are affecting the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula and the coast of southern California. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

Little change in intensity is forecast through tonight, followed by steady weakening through the weekend.
