Ideas for when you're done with your real Christmas tree
With Christmas right around the corner, some of us still go out and get a real tree. After Christmas comes the question, what do we do with it?
There are several things you can do with your tree from making it into mulch to recycling it.
MULCH
Mulching your used Christmas tree preserves soil moisture and releases necessary nutrients into the soil as it decomposes. This is great to place around shrubs and trees.
MINI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Prop your tree up in the backyard. Then add some peanut butter and seed feeders to attract birds or small animals. The benefit from this will be an enriched nesting space for your area's wildlife. A great learning experience for the whole family.
A CRAFTY SOLUTION TREE COASTERS
Here is how to do it. Saw small pieces from the main trunk of your tree, sand and seal them. Then you will a unique place to set your coffee.
GARDEN FRENZY
Use small round pieces, cut from the trunk, and add them to the edge of flowerbeds or walkways. You can also compost the branches for fertilizer.
