Intense snow squalls to continue across Ontario

More snow and blowing snow is on the menu for portions of Ontario on Friday.

Early on Friday areas East of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay will see snow squalls that will continue into the weekend. Amounts of 35 cm are expected over a few locations. Snow squalls are expected to shift slowly southward through the day, leading to highly variable snowfall accumulations. Some areas may see in excess of 75 cm by the end of the weekend.

The Golden Horseshoe, southwestern and central Ontario will see snow squalls Friday and into the weekend. Some areas could see 5 cm.

Snow squalls from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay may extend farther inland, affecting regions from Goderich to Barrie and northeast to Bancroft with near 15 cm of snow.

Parts of central Ontario could see up to 10 cm of snow.

Intense snow squalls are expected to develop over Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and track northeast. These snow squalls are largely expected to remain south of the international border, however, there are some indications that these snow squalls will track north briefly and lead to a quick 5 cm of snowfall accumulation.
