Low to push across Atlantic Canada this weekend


An area of low pressure will impact Atlantic Canada on Sunday and Monday.


On Saturday night rain will push across the Maritime province with 10 to 20 mm expected. On Sunday night rain will change to snow. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm is possible across northern New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.


A special weather statement has been issued for most of Newfoundland.


The low will pass south of Newfoundland on Sunday and Monday.


For western, central and northeastern Newfoundland, rain and snow is expected to develop early on Sunday. Rain will change to snow on Sunday night. Significant snowfall accumulations are likely by Monday afternoon. 15 to 30 cm is expected.


Across southern and parts of eastern Newfoundland, significant rain is expected from Sunday into Monday. Rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm is expected. Rain is expected to change to snow by Monday morning.


Driving conditions are likely to be impacted across the Island.
