Major storm to impact Manitoba, Saskatchewan and NW Ontario


Blizzard and winter storm warnings are in effect across southeastern Saskatchewan, southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.


Overnight tonight snow will begin and will last until Friday. Across southeastern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba snowfall amounts of 30 to 50 cm is expected. Winds will gust between 70 and 90 km/h resulting in widespread blowing snow creating blizzard conditions.


From Wednesday afternoon into Friday afternoon 30 to 50 cm of snow and strong winds with gusts to 70 km/h are expected across northwestern Ontario.


15 to 30 cm of snow is expected for the Fort Hope and Geraldton area.


Significant rainfall is expected Wednesday and Thursday across northeastern Ontario. 30 to 50 mm is possible by Thursday evening.


Travel will be extremely difficult and not advisable.
