May Astronomy Highlights



Today Saturn will be visible in the eastern sky at dawn. Mercury will sit below the Ringed Planet while Mars will appear orange between both.


On May 4, Saturn and Mars will be opposite of the Moon. Mars will move right of the Moon on May 5.


On May 31 there will be a Saturn-Moon conjuction between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

  • Last Quarter: May 1

  • New Moon: May 8

  • First Quarter: May 15

  • Full Moon: May 23
