Messy Sunday across the Maritimes

A low currently over Maine will being some messy weather to the Maritimes today and tonight.

The low will bring snow to most of New Brunswick. Areas of northern New Brunswick will see 15 to 20 cm of snow today. Lesser amounts are expected elsewhere. In Fredericton 10 to 15 cm is expected, Moncton will receive about 2 to 5 cm and Saint John will see about 5 cm of snow followed by 5 mm of rain.

Most of Prince Edward Island will receive 10 to 15 cm of snow from this event.

Across Cape Breton 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected tonight. Areas such as Truro could see 5 to 10 cm of snow and there is a potential for ice pellets. Halifax will receive about 5 cm of snow and around 2 mm of rain, some ice pellets are also possible. Farther south it will be mostly rain with about 5 mm expected in Yarmouth.

The good news is that winds will not be overly strong with this system, but some coastal gusts to 60 km/h are possible across southern Nova Scotia.

Newfoundland will not see any impact from this storm.
