Mixed precipitation across Nova Scotia and heavy snow expected across parts of Newfoundland

The rain that is currently falling over Nova Scotia and western Newfoundland will change to snow mixed with freezing rain and ice pellets later today.
Parts of eastern mainland Nova Scotia and western Cape Breton will likely see freezing rain that will end this morning.
Snow will fall across Cape Breton Island from this afternoon to Friday afternoon. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are expected. Additionally, winds will gust to 90 km/h resulting in blowing snow.
Newfoundland is another story. Along the west coast and Northern Peninsula East, snowfall amounts of 20 to 50 cm are expected with wind gusts to 80 km/h. Rain will change to snow today and continue through to Friday evening.
Even more snow is expected for the Green Bay, Deer Lake, and interior area. In these areas snowfall amounts of 30 to 60 cm are expected. Additionally, winds will gust between 60 and 80 km/h.
Rain is the story in the Connaigre region and Burin Peninsula. By Friday morning amounts of 60 to 90 mm are possible.
