A low pressure system formed off Cape Hatteras on Wednesday and rapidly intensified as it was passing east of the Avalon Peninsula on Thursday. The storm brought large amounts of snow to parts of Newfoundland, as well as some rain over eastern sections. Very strong winds also accompanied the system.
