Newfoundland Weather Warms Up Slightly #nlwx



After another shivering day of very cold wind chills across Newfoundland, some improvement is expected today.


On Thursday night and Friday morning, some very cold wind chills were recorded.


St. John's International Airport recorded a wind chill of minus 27. Gander International Airport recorded a wind chill of minus 28. In Corner Brook, a wind chill of minus 26 was recorded.


Across the Island today, highs will range from minus 2 to minus 6.


Cold weather impacts everybody.


Cold Weather Safety Tips:

  • Wear layered clothing, mittens or gloves, and a hat.

  • Cover your mouth to protect your lungs from severely cold air.

  • Watch for signs of hypothermia and frostbite.

  • Keep dry.

  • Avoid overexertion, such as shovelling heavy snow, pushing a vehicle, or walking in deep snow.
