NL Continues With Winter As Another Storm Hits Province


There are still multiple weather alerts in effect across Newfoundland and Labrador this morning.


Most areas of western Newfoundland is still seeing snow. That snow will transition to rain later today. Central sections and the Avalon are seeing freezing rain. That freezing rain will also change to rain today.


In Labrador, blizzard conditions are continuing along coastal areas.

Roads are either snow-covered or partly snow-covered for Newfoundland. The exception is on the southern Avalon where roads are bare and wet with a few slushy sections. Travel is not recommended along much of the west coast and north coast. In Labrador most roads are snow-covered.


Marine Atlantic advises customers that due to adverse weather in the Cabot Strait the following changes have been made to their schedule:

  • Port aux Basques to North Sydney Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 2345 is now scheduled to depart Friday, March 27, 2020 at 2345.

  • North Sydney to Port aux BasquesThursday, March 26, 2020 at 2315 is now scheduled to depart Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 1145.

  • Port aux Basques to North Sydney Friday, March 27, 2020 at 1145 is now scheduled to depart Friday, March 27, 2020 at 2345.

  • North Sydney to Port aux Basques Friday, March 27, 2020 at 1145 is now scheduled to depart Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 1145.
