Over 100 people killed in China earthquake



Chinese officials say 116 people have been killed in an earthquake in the northern half of the country. 500 others have been injured.


The 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred at 11:59 p.m. local time.


The earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometres and was centred 36.6 km west-northwest of Linxia Chengguanzhen, China.


State television said there was damage to water, electricity lines, transportation and communications infrastructure.
