Plane Goes Missing Shortly After Takeoff in Indonesia


A Sriwijaya Air passenger plane has gone missing according to multiple reports.


The plane was carrying 62 people.


Sriwijaya Air Flight 182 went missing after taking off from Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta Airport on route to Pontianak Supadio Airport. The passenger plane had departed Jakarta, the Indonesian capital and had gone missing shortly after.


The plane was operating on a route from Jakarta to Pontianak.


Search efforts are underway. Eyewitnesses say that the plane quickly lost altitude and crashed.


Sriwijaya Air is an Indonesian airline based in Jakarta with its headquarters located at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport M1 Area in Tangerang.


As of January 2021, Sriwijaya Air serves 14 scheduled domestic destinations throughout Indonesia as well as a sole remaining international route to Timor Leste.
