Poor Air Quality in Northwestern Alberta

Smoke is causing poor air quality and reducing visibility in parts of northwestern Alberta and northeastern British Columbia.

The smoke is from the massive out of control wildfire near High Level.

A successful controlled burn has been carried out to help keep the fire away from the town.

The wildfire now covers some 920 square kilometres and remains about three kilometres southwest of the town.

5,000 people remain out of their homes.

The weather has not been helping with rising temperatures, gusty wind and no significant rain is on the horizon.
