Nova Scotia
Northern Mainland areas and Cape Breton Island will see 25 cm of snow and wind gusts to 80 km/h. Conditions are expected to gradually improve this afternoon.
From Yarmouth County to Halifax County, storm surge occurring with high tide has the potential to raise water levels well above the highest astronomical tide. Coastal erosion may occur in vulnerable locations.
There are a number of school delays and closures across Nova Scotia.
Newfoundland
Today, significant snow and blowing snow are expected across the Island. Blizzard conditions are expected for eastern and central Newfoundland, including Avalon and Burin peninsulas.
Snow accumulations of 35 to 50 cm are possible through today and into Tuesday. Western and Southwestern Newfoundland will also see snow with 3 to 7 cm expected.
Most schools in eastern and central Newfoundland are closed all day.
Marine Atlantic has cancelled crossings for today.
