Rain and funnel cloud risk across southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba

A slow-moving low-pressure system moving eastward is expected to bring widespread rainfall to the Dauphin, Minnedosa and Gladstone regions throughout the day.

Rain is forecast to continue for much of the day before gradually weakening and moving out of the area this evening. Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 millimetres are expected over the next 12 hours, falling on ground that is already saturated from previous rainfall.

Meanwhile, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon across southeastern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba. Environment Canada says there is an elevated risk of funnel clouds, particularly during the early stages of thunderstorm development.

The threat of funnel clouds is expected to diminish early this evening as weather conditions improve.
