Rain and severe storms to impact the Middle East

The Middle East is bracing for a somewhat unusual storm that will deliver flooding rains to the region.


Today, parts of the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Iraq will begin to see the impacts. The storm will linger until Friday.


The storm will bring heavy rain to areas which typically do not see rain.


Rainfall Forecast:

  • Tehran, Iran 30-40 mm

  • Baghdad, Iraq 20-30 mm

  • Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 2-4 mm

  • Dubai, United Arab Emirates 50-60 mm

There is also a risk of thunderstorms, some of which will be severe; the storms could cause hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes.
