Rain continues in eastern Newfoundland

Rain is continuing across eastern Newfoundland as the remnants of Hurricane Earl continue to meander off the southwestern Grand Banks.


Rain is expected to continue today and this evening before coming to an end overnight and the low finally pulls away.


There are several reports of localized flooding on the eastern Avalon Peninsula. Some areas have received close to 200 mm of rain.

Over the course of today and this evening here is the rainfall forecast:

  • St. John's 10-15 mm

  • Carbonear 5-10 mm

  • Trepassey 5-10 mm

  • Placentia 5-10 mm
