Regional state of emergency declared in Newfoundland due to wildfire

An evacuation order is in effect for the residents of:
Small Point–Adam’s Cove–Blackhead–Broad Cove
Kingston
Western Bay
Perry’s Cove
Ochre Pit Cove
Salmon Cove
Burnt Point-Gull Island-Northern Bay
A Regional State of Emergency was declared for the Bay de Verde Peninsula due to wildfires in the region.
It is important to note, this is not a full region evacuation. Residents are asked to be prepared to evacuate their community on short notice.

The reception centre is located at Carbonear Academy, 88 Valley Road, Carbonear. Impacted residents are advised to head north on Route 70. An evacuation alert is now in effect for the Town of Victoria.
Cabin owners in Martin Lake, Great Rattling Brook and Rushy Pond areas off Route 360 (Bay d’Espoir Highway) have been extended to include all cabins from Rushy Pond to Rifle Lake.
