Scorching temperatures across the western United States

It will be a very hot weekend across the western United States.

Temperatures are expected to soar into the upper 90s and triple digits throughout most of the Southwest, interior sections of California, the Intermountain West and the northern High Plains.

This is abnormal for this time of year, some areas are seeing temperatures nearly 30 degrees above seasonal.

It is expected that several new daily high temperature records will be set over the weekend.

The scorching temperatures combined with strong winds will create favourable conditions for wildfires.
