Severe thunderstorms bring hail and heavy rain to parts of Quebec

Severe thunderstorms moved through parts of Quebec Thursday afternoon, bringing heavy rain and hail that caused some damage.

Environment Canada said the storms tracked along an area stretching from Lanaudière through the Eastern Townships and Montérégie.

Hail was reported in several communities, with some reports of property and vegetation damage.

In Mascouche, quarter-sized hailstones damaged gardens and the roof of a gazebo.

Residents in Terrebonne reported hail along with several broken tree branches, while Granby saw hail and heavy rainfall.

Environment Canada said the reports were preliminary and unofficial and did not represent a complete or final account of the storm impacts.
