There is a widespread risk of thunderstorms across Southern Manitoba today, some of which will likely be severe.
Warm and humid conditions are expected to build across eastern areas, including parts of the Red River Valley, ahead of an approaching cold front. The system could shift farther south into the United States, which would reduce the risk of severe weather in Manitoba.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 20s, with enough humidity to help fuel storm development.
If storms do form, they may quickly organize into lines moving across the region. The main threats include heavy rain, strong wind gusts and the potential for hail. While the risk is lower, a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.
