Significant freezing rain event possible across Ontario

A significant storm will impact Ontario this weekend beginning on Friday. Snow, rain, and freezing rain is expected.


A significant freezing rain event is expected to begin on Friday evening across parts of northeastern and southern Ontario. Freezing rain is expected to continue into the weekend for portions of southern, central, eastern and northeastern Ontario.


Snow will begin in northwestern Ontario before dawn on Friday and in northeastern Ontario late Friday morning or early afternoon. The snow will be heavy through the weekend. Portions of northern Ontario could see 5 to 15 cm of snow on Friday.


A significant freezing rain event is expected to continue Saturday. Parts of southern and northeastern Ontario will be hit by multiple waves of freezing rain with significant ice build-up. Northeastern, central and eastern Ontario could be hit the hardest.
