Significant snow expected for Nova Scotia and parts of Newfoundland

Nova Scotia

Tonight until Monday afternoon snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm is expected. Snow will mix with rain at times along the coast of southwestern Nova Scotia resulting in lower snowfall amounts.


Newfoundland

There are winter storm watches in effect across eastern areas of Newfoundland. Snow will begin Monday morning and will be heavy at times on Monday afternoon. Gusty winds will become stronger Monday evening resulting in poor visibility in blowing snow.


Snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm is likely for most areas, accumulations may reach 15 to 20 cm on the Avalon Peninsula. Wind gusts from 60 to 70 km/h are also expected.


Conditions will improve overnight on Monday.


Travel Implications

Wind conditions on Monday may result in restrictions of traffic on the Confederation Bridge commencing approximately 7:00 a.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m.


Marine Altlantic is warning of potential delays tomorrow evening and Tuesday.
