Significant Snow Headed for Eastern Newfoundland #nlwx

An area of low pressure will begin to push across Newfoundland on Saturday morning.

Central and western Newfoundland will see snow from the system. On the Burin and Avalon Peninsula, a mix of rain, snow and ice pellets are expected.

Elevation will play a large role in how much snow will fall. Higher elevations will see more snow.

There is a snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Avalon Peninsula North

  • Bonavista Peninsula

  • Burin Peninsula

  • Clarenville and vicinity

  • St. John's and vicinity

  • Terra Nova

In the above-listed areas, snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres are expected. Elsewhere across Newfoundland, snowfall amount of 5 to 15 centimetres is expected. On the Avalon, there will also be wind gusts to about 60 km/h which will cause reduced visibility and blowing snow.

Keep checking back for updates.
