Snow and freezing rain expected across northwestern Ontario this weekend

The next couple of days will be unsettled across northwestern Ontario with snow and freezing rain expected as a Colorado Low moves through.

On Friday snow and ice pellets are expected for areas north of Kenora for areas such as Red Lake to Fort Hope. In these areas, snow will begin on Friday morning and continue into Saturday morning. Areas east of Pikangikum to Pickle Lake could see 10 to 20 cm of snow. Red Lake eastwards to north of Nakina could see freezing rain on Friday morning.

On Saturday the snow will shift north with 5 to 15 cm expected across parts of northwestern and far northwestern Ontario. 5 to 10 mm of freezing rain is also possible on Saturday morning for areas from Red Lake extending northeastwards to Pickle Lake and Fort Hope.

Portions of northwestern and far northern Ontario could see another 10 to 20 cm of snow on Sunday.
