Snow and rain expected across northern Ontario on Wednesday


A system will impact northern portions of Ontario on Wednesday.


Snow is expected from the Manitoba border eastward to Timmins. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are possible but areas west and northwest of Lake Superior, including Thunder Bay could see 15 to 25 cm of snow.


The snow is expected to continue through the night on Wednesday before tapering off on Thursday morning.


For areas along the eastern shores of Lake Superior and the northern shores of Lake Huron, rain is expected. Rain will begin on Wednesday morning and continue until the evening. Rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm are possible.


There are widespread snowfall warnings and special weather statements in effect.
