An area of low pressure off the northern coast of the Northwest Territories is bringing snow and strong winds to Banks Island for places such as Sachs Harbour.

Precipitation this morning started as rain, but changed to snow as the temperature fell this afternoon.

Snowfall amounts of 5 cm are expected today and tonight. Winds will also gust to 70 km/h at times, resulting in blowing snow and reduced visibility.

The normal maximum temperature for today is 4 degrees.
