Snow squalls to make for snowy weekend across southern Ontario


It's going to be a snowy weekend across across portions of Southern Ontario.


Today, snow is expected for areas east of Lake Superior. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are expected. 5 to 10 cm are expected east of Lake Huron and south of Georgian Bay.


On Sunday, snow squalls will continue east of Lake Superior. Additional snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are possible before the snow squalls move south Sunday morning. Snow squalls will move into areas along Whitefish Bay early Sunday morning. Local snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible before the snow tapers off Sunday afternoon.


For the Bruce Peninsula and areas east of Georgian Bay, snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are possible. Snow squalls will taper to light flurries Sunday evening as the wind shifts to the northwest. In addition, strong winds gusting up to 80 km/h will produce blowing snow.


An additional 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected east of Lake Huron and south of Georgian Bay.


Snow squalls are expected to develop over Lake Erie and Lake Ontario early Sunday morning. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected.
