A winter weather system is expected to bring snow, strong winds and blowing snow to parts of northern Ontario on Friday, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions.

A low-pressure system tracking across far northern Ontario is forecast to produce between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow. Winds could gust up to 70 kilometres per hour, leading to widespread blowing snow beginning in the afternoon or evening.

Elsewhere across northern Ontario, a frontal snow squall could develop along a cold front moving through the region during the day. The system may bring a quick 2 to 5 centimetres of snow, along with wind gusts near 70 km/h and brief periods of reduced visibility in blowing snow.
