Snowfall Forecast for The Maritimes and Newfoundland

An area of low pressure will push across the Maritimes today and bring both snow and rain to the region.

Across the Maritimes, snowfall amounts will range from 5 cm to 30 cm. The heaviest snow is expected along the shores of Bay of Fundy, the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick Border and Lunenburg County to and including Cape Breton Island.

Snow will change to rain across parts of Nova Scotia. Rain is expected across the southern and eastern shores of Nova Scotia.

Overnight and Sunday morning snow will push across southern Newfoundland and will clear by noon on Sunday. 10 to 15 cm is possible over the Burin and the southern Avalon Peninsula. For the northern Avalon and the remainder of the south coast, only about 2 to 5 cm is expected. Elsewhere across Newfoundland, some flurries are expected with little to no accumulation.

There is a blowing snow advisory in effect for Avalon Peninsula Southeast, Avalon Peninsula Southwest, and the Burin Peninsula. Maximum wind gusts to 80 km/h are possible along parts of the coast.
