Storm shuts down the Avalon Peninsula


It's a snow day for many on the Avalon Peninsula as an area of low pressure makes its way southeast of the Avalon.


Snow and blowing snow is expected today. The first significant snowfall of the season.


Snow is expected to start mid-morning.


Snowfall forecast:

  • St. John's 10-15 cm

  • Cape Race 15-20 cm

  • Placentia 10-15 cm

  • Carbonear 5-10 cm

  • Marystown 5-10 cm

  • Clarenville 2-5 cm

Winds on the Avalon Peninsula will gust to 80 km/h at times resulting in snow and blowing snow.


Conditions will improve this evening.
